There’s no single correct answer to a search like “Hella H4 headlights.” The right purchase depends on what you’re fixing, how the vehicle is used, and what a wrong part costs once labor enters the picture. I say that as the procurement manager for a 120-person fleet operation. For the past six years, I’ve managed a maintenance-parts budget of roughly $145,000 per year and logged each order in the same cost system.
That system is the reason I read search phrases literally. If a mechanic writes “h4 hella headlights,” I don’t guess whether he means a bulb, a lamp, or a “brighter” conversion. They all share the same cap, but their operating life and output differ. Before you choose, know what the vehicle calls for and what you’re actually trying to fix: dim output, burned-out bulb, or a damaged reflector.
In January 2025, I priced replacement bulbs with our usual distributors. Standard Hella H4 bulbs came out around $8 to $15 per bulb at our order volume, and Hella 9005 bulbs were roughly $10 to $18. No part number? No purchase. If you’re replacing a cooling part, find the OEM number or match the old radiator physically before ordering. The price difference between a “fits many models” radiator and the correct radiator is small compared with the cost of an overheated engine.
O2 Sensor Honda Pilot: Diagnose Before You Buy

A Pilot can have upstream and downstream oxygen-related sensors, and in many Honda service documents the upstream sensor is called an Air/Fuel ratio sensor. Scenario Two: You’re Fixing One Vehicle and Can Wait Two Days
If the vehicle is your own, you can avoid the most expensive performance tiers. A correct H4 bulb that returns the headlamp to normal is worth more than a bright bulb with a weird beam cutoff. Buy a recognized brand or OE part, keep the receipt, and start with the least expensive correct part—not the least expensive search result.
Scenario Three: Safety-Critical Part or No Second Chance
Bearings, steering, brakes, and cooling fall into a different branch. If a listing says “Hamburg radiator” and cannot give you an OE cross-reference, pass. If a wheel bearing is noisy, source the right hub/bearing unit before you drive it. The phrase “get it running today” is expensive. Better to let the vehicle sit for two days than to install a mismatched part and redo it after the first highway pull.
How to Tell You’re in the Right Branch
Ask one question: what does a failed replacement cost?
If the answer is “another 20 minutes and a trip to the parts store,” you have room to experiment on price.
If the answer is “a second tow, a damaged hub, or an unsafe night drive,” then the difference between $10 and $30 is noise. Pay attention to fit and documentation, not just the photo.
A purchase request is not complete until it has a part number.
